Affirming Window

Affirming Window

Our “ Affirming Window” crafted by Peter Wood is located in the narthex, just inside the ramp doors.

Dedicated June 17, 2018, Affirmation Sunday, it is a symbol of our welcome to all to worship here.

We see the familiar open arms of Jesus welcoming all to seek his comfort. The earth tone colours for his robe and his dark hair and golden coloured skin relate him to more races of the world family. Jesus is placed in front of a rainbow, reminding us of God’s promise in Genesis after the flood to care for all life on earth. And now the rainbow, in varying colours is also the symbol of our LGBTQ family.

At either end of the rainbow is Alpha and Omega, God is the beginning and the end. This is the ultimate description of acceptance of diversity. God accepts us ALL . We need to learn to accept each other. Following the theme of diversity, the frame is made with four species of wood: Beech, Maple, Cherry and Oak. This window is a symbol that this church family at BUC accepts EVERYONE to join here in worship and community in God’s name.

Our church services, and all of our activities and programs are open to all!

Come and be a part of the Bracebridge United Church community!

Everyone welcome. Come as you are.
