The Risen Lord

Annie Eliza Boyd was born in Seneca Township, Haldimand County, in 1861. When she was an infant, her parents moved to Muskoka, settling in Morrison Township. Annie Boyd married James B. Brown at Severn Bridge, in 1881. Mr. and Mrs. Brown lived in Gravenhurst for thirteen years, where James was employed in the local lumbering industry. They then moved to Bracebridge where he became the homestead inspector. Mrs. Brown resided here for the rest of her life. She was a devout member of the Bracebridge Methodist Church and was involved in the Ladies’ Aid as well as other church organizations.

Annie E. Brown died in 1917, leaving her husband and four children to mourn. Her two sons, Guy and Gerald, were in the military at the time – one overseas in England and the other stationed at Camp Petawawa. Her daughter, Mabel McGibbon, is also memorialized in a window on the same side of the sanctuary which was presented by the other daughter of Annie E. Brown, Ethel (Brown) Cochrane.
